Academic Documents

Transcript and diploma translation for studying or working in the U.S.

Universities, community colleges, credential evaluators like WES and ECE, licensing boards and employers only assess your record in English. We translate diplomas, transcripts, syllabi and certificates while preserving the course structure, contact hours and grades — the way an evaluator expects to read them.

Accepted by WES, ECE and Josef Silny as a supporting translation of the original document

Why you need it

Three paths, the same requirement

An institution can't evaluate what it can't read. And a poorly structured translation — no contact hours, no grading scale — delays the review more than having none at all.

  1. Credential evaluation (WES, ECE, Josef Silny)

Credential evaluation agencies require the original document sent by the institution plus a literal, complete, word-for-word translation. We deliver it in the format they ask for — including the grading scale and the contact hours for each course, the items most often missing and most likely to stall the process.

  2. University or community college admission

To transfer credits, enter a degree program or place out of ESL levels, the admissions office asks for a translated transcript and diploma. Translated syllabi meaningfully improve your odds of getting credit for courses already taken in Brazil.

  3. Employment, professional licensing and work visas

Licensing boards, employers and H-1B or EB-2/EB-3 petitions require proof of education. Translated technical diplomas, course certificates and completion statements serve as documentary evidence.

Frequently asked questions

Does WES accept your translation?

WES requires the original document to be sent directly by the educational institution, accompanied by a literal English translation. That is the kind of translation we deliver. We always recommend checking your chosen agency's requirements before submitting, since each one differs slightly.

Do I need the syllabi translated, or just the transcript?

For credential evaluation the transcript is usually enough. To transfer credits and avoid repeating courses you've already taken, syllabi make the difference — that's the document a department chair uses to compare course content.

Do you convert grades to the U.S. system?

No. The translation preserves grades exactly as they appear on the original document and includes the institution's grading scale. GPA conversion is done by the credential evaluator or the university itself.

Does my diploma need an apostille before the translation?

It depends on who receives it. When an apostille is required, it is applied to the original Portuguese document — and the apostille text is translated too. Tell us the destination in your request and we'll advise on the right order.
